Why are teacher turnovers rampant in many countries across the globe?
Teachers faced a lot of pressure from everything they do because they were all expected to provide the necessary instructions to all student in different levels of their learning capacities. During lessons for instance, not all students were gifted with the ability to process learning materials quickly and they do not learn the lessons the same way as other fast learning students do. Thus, teachers adjust and becomes flexible to adapt to the needs of their students especially when dealing with students that have challenging behavioral issues. But many teacher faced with the same dilemma did not quit unless they were in their retirement years because they knew all along the expectation of their profession. Pay could be a factor for a lot of turnovers but comparing your job to other profession is not as daunting as it is because there are no easy job. All jobs are hard. Even entrepreneurs will guarantee you that they were once an employee of their company 24/7 before they become successful. Could it be the system, because teachers who are in the profession needs to keep up with their professional development and keep competitive and that is the reason they have so much tasks to do? Or was it because of parents unavailable to their children due to their work and household needs? Or maybe they do not care to provide disciplinary actions to their children if they misbehave in the classroom? An educator's job puts a lot of mental constraints and physical pressure to teachers due to the fact that they are not just dealing about their tasks but they also need to perform at their best in the classroom. And they also need to handle themselves properly when dealing with challenging students and their helicopter parents. Every teacher who quits made their decision to leave the profession for personal reasons but it is not just because of one factor or two to really understand the psychology in them to find the reason for their decisions to finally quit the profession. There are always the reason for quitting and it applies to all profession but one thing I learned is that from the beginning you chose to enter the teaching profession, you should be knowledgeable of the expectations and like any other profession, we are all blinded to the reality that it is always fun and dandy . Many of the young teachers did not anticipate that and like any other profession such as nursing, engineers or scientists, the pressure is always there and we should all be aware of those career choices before taking important decisions and responsibilities. This is a critical lesson we all need to share to young adults during their career fair especially to those students taking college courses so, it helps them understand that teaching is not just a profession but it is a career to make an impact to someone's life. An educator is not just teaching a lesson to their students but also rendering helpful and meaningful advices for them and☺️
sometimes to their parents so, they too can help their children perform better at school. Dealing with the emotions of students are not always easy and sometimes it gets out of hand. Teachers must have the stamina to handle all of those pressures while teaching the class as the same time. And may be they will thank you about those helpful support because they became successful and made good decisions in life.
